America 250 Sunrise Concert reviews
Aerosmith and Cheap trick in fine form.
South Florida audiences are some of the worst, displaying the attention span of a gnat. Cheap Trick had a horrible response, despite sounding great. Their big mistake was playing obscure songs for the first 45 minutes of their set. They finally received a real response when they did a Lennon tribute followed by "I Want You To Want Me" and "Dream Police," but it was too late for an encore. They deserved better. Thankfully, they gave a better response for America 250. This show was much better than their last performance here about 4 or 5 years ago. They were more focused. They ignored the "Get Your Wings" album, one of their finest recordings, but redeemed themselves by not playing "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing." They opened with "Toys In The Attic," a nice choice. Their rendition of "Living On the Edge" was exceptional. The highlight was the middle of the show with a nice run of older material: "Movin' Out," "Walking The Dog," and "Last Child." It felt like 1977 all over again, if only for a little while!
